Hayden Newton has extensive experience of senior leadership roles in the NHS. He was the Chief Executive Officer of the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust for 6 years until early 2013. Whilst at EEAST Hayden has been the National Lead for Operations and undertaken national assurance projects on winter planning, Pandemic Flu, and most recently the London 2012 Olympic and Para-Olympic Games.

Prior to this appointment he was the National Lead at the Department of Health focusing on the development and rollout of ambulance performance standards and providing advice and auditing to ambulance services and health authorities. He is also a former Chief Executive of Kent Ambulance Service where he was instrumental in the Trust moving from a one star to three star organisation in two years.

He has also been Chairman of the Association of Air Ambulances and President of the British Association of Public Communication Officers (BAPCO).

Throughout his career he has been involved in a number of Major Incidents and Special Operations acting at Gold Commander Level throughout the UK.

In the 2013 New Year’s Honours, Hayden received the Queens Ambulance Medal for his commitment to ambulance services throughout his long career.
